To some, having plants in your work environment may seem like an unnecessary addition. The watering, re-potting and picking up leaves can be off-putting. However, there is plenty of science-based research to suggest that indoor plants are in fact, quite the necessity. Whether you work in an office or at home, remotely, having a mixture of plants in your space can drastically improve your mood, focus and ultimately, the quality of your work. If this simple hack has any impact on tackling the Sunday scaries; we're happy to give it a go!
Here are 3 reasons why you should show this to your boss and get straight to your local plant shop:
1. Reduce stress
A study which took place to examine the way in which interacting with indoor plants can impact stress levels indicates that the active interaction with indoor plants can reduce physiological and psychological stress compared with mental work. After spending time transplanting an indoor plant compare with other tasks, subjects reported feeling comforted and soothed.
So, even if minimal plant maintenance is required at times, it will actually help to reduce stress and improve your wellbeing!
2. Boost productivity
So it turns out that working in an environment that feels green and healthy can actually impact how much work you get done, as well as the quality of it. In one study they found that by adding plants to an office, they could increase productivity by 15% with increased workplace satisfaction, self-reported levels of concentration, and perceived air quality.
It's no secret that working in a plan box can feel a little doom-and-gloom, so why not add some more green to your work space?
3. Improve how you view work
Last but not least, having a work space that has elements incorporated in it to improve your wellbeing can make your whole outlook on work a lot more positive. Here at Elastic Pie Films, we make sure to include plenty of plants in our space to ensure we are creating an environment which we like to be in! This contributes to a great team and great videos for our clients.
